Mission

Black Alumni Weekend (BAW) is dedicated to fostering a lifelong community for Black Ohio University alumni while creating meaningful connections with current students. Through a weekend of networking, mentorship, and celebration, we honor the rich legacy of Black excellence at Ohio University. By partnering with local businesses, the City of Athens, and fellow alumni, we ensure that our traditions thrive beyond campus boundaries. Our mission is to empower, inspire, and uplift—preserving our shared history while paving the way for future generations.

Vision

Black Alumni Weekend (BAW) envisions a future where Ohio University’s Black alumni remain
deeply connected, supported, and empowered—regardless of institutional changes. We strive to cultivate a thriving network that fosters lifelong relationships, professional growth, and cultural celebration. By embracing innovation and community collaboration, BAW aims to create an inclusive and sustainable tradition that uplifts alumni, inspires current students, and strengthens the legacy of Black excellence at Ohio University for generations to come.
